WHITE CITY
White City is an area of downtown Tel Aviv that was established in the 1930s during the sudden population growth in the city. Jewish architects escaping Nazism designed apartments and other buildings in the modern style making the precinct a laboratory of modernist design.
UNESCO has proclaimed White City a World Cultural Heritage Site for the “outstanding significance of the various trends of the Modern Movement in architecture and town planning in the early part of the 20th century” (http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1096).
